WESTSHORE COMMUNITY CONCERT BAND

The WCCB Mandate

The goals of the WCCB are to bring musicians with a wide variety of experience together and share in a creative and enjoyable musical endeavour. We have members ranging in age from early 20s to over 80.

The Westshore Community Concert Band is a volunteer community band for the Westshore, giving musicians with three or more years of experience an opportunity to share in a creative and enjoyable musical endeavour, and providing musical support for community events, especially in Colwood, Langford, Metchosin and View Royal.

2023-2024 Season — 21st year of operation

Keep an eye on the calendar under under Events for up-to-date rehearsal and performance information. Proposed repertoire for each rehearsal is posted on the calendar.

Rehearsals take place Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. Rehearsals resume January 9th, 2024.

Interested in joining us?

The Westshore Band is interested in meeting other wind, brass or percussion players who might be like to become permanent members of the Band. PLEASE NOTE that we still require all attendees to be vaccinated against covid.

Clarinets are the violin section of a concert band, so the more the merrier, we have lots of room. We have a full trumpet section, but a pair of French horns would help us cover every instrumental part and make for some really exciting sounds. A second alto sax and tenor sax would be welcome. More hands in the percussion section would, likewise, fill out the sound.

If you have at least 3 years of playing experience and want to be part of a fun, friendly and supportive group, come out and join us.

How to join us

The Membership Application form may be obtained from General Info under the Members tab. See the information letter that contains more details about changes from previous seasons.

Players must provide their own music stands. Wind and brass players must bring material necessary to capture and contain condensation from their instruments.

See Venues for details about parking.

Young People's Concert Series

Stay tuned for the second of three free concerts on Saturday, April 20. The series is intended to introduce young people to the role of music in our daily lives, to encourage students to learn an instrument and to play in an ensemble, and to remain interested and involved throughout adult life, whether as players or informed listeners. There will be a different topic at each concert.
